We only recommend handy people, gardeners and trades people who we can trust, and you can trust too.

Our handy people, gardeners and trusted traders have provided us with their insurance documents, evidence of their skills and experience, and we have undertaken police checks. We try to find local people who live in your community, and who have an interest in helping local residents. Electrical, gas, roofing and plumbing work We have a list of ‘trusted traders’ who can carry out electrical, gas, central heating, roofing and plumbing work.

These traders are regulated by national standards for your safety. We can ask our trusted traders to give you a quote for specialist work, which is priced on a case by case basis. 4 How much does the service cost? Never let them into your house without seeing this card and knowing who they are. We will tell you who is coming ahead of the appointment and can provide them with a password chosen by you to provide an extra layer of security. Practical details l We will provide the handy person or gardener, and they will have the appropriate tools required to complete the job(s). l You will need to provide any materials necessary for the job to be completed and we will discuss this with you in advance.

l We are also working with the Police, Fire Service, and local community watch schemes as they may be able to provide some equipment and materials at no cost to you, apart from the labour. Haringey Circle Handy Person and Gardening Service Member Handbook 7 We need your co-operation Our trades people will be working in your home and will respect this.

However, they may need access to your facilities such as electricity and water. They may even need to use your toilet or washing facilities. Sometimes, a pre-visit may be required where the handy person or gardener will visit your home to take an overview of the job to decide what materials might be required before the job can be completed.

Work completed to your satisfaction At the start of the work we will take a picture of what needs to be done, we will also take a picture at the end of the work. We will ask you to complete an instant feedback form to confirm that you are happy with the work undertaken. We ask all our members to complete our yearly satisfaction survey to help us continually improve our services and offers.

We may also contact you by phone to get your comments and views. 8 Coronavirus (COVID-19) compliance We are working within Government guidelines to ensure that our trades people work in a safe way to protect your safety and wellbeing, as well as their own. Our handy people and gardeners will follow the current guidelines on: l Social distancing. l Use of effective Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). l Good hygiene, washing hands and also awareness for environmental hygiene.
